Come thrift with me!

My try on haul. I think I ended up taking home half of these things. the first yellow check tank is so cute but looked so terrible on me! I brought home the Anthro denim top, the blue free people top, the pink cardigan with zigzag designs, the white LLbean fleece at the end and the MinkPink dress
Then I took a second video to get a peep at the brands
A view of the shoes at frenchys from my first stop. It was a flop for me this time. Didn’t find any shoes or boots.
A little view of the clothing layout at frenchys. Anyone remember when it was all in the bins? I can’t believe I was upset when they started hanging the clothing. I could never go back to bin digging!
This curated basket of greys was cute, but I didn’t end up getting anything at this stop
A messy backseat shot of my thrift haul
This Smart Set tag gives me the nostalgia.
I didn’t get any of these, but I loved them!

Fall Thrift Haul

Today, I had a few hours to kill while waiting to pick up my pup from the groomers. I decided to head to Value Village since I had a 30% off coupon. Last night I did some online shopping and quickly realized how expensive retail clothing is even when there is a sale. Not wanting to spend $120 on a few dresses, I abandoned my shopping cart and made a mental list of the things I wanted. We all know how much I love thrift shopping, but lately I don’t feel like wasting hours digging through mountains of junk. Shocking. I know. Today, with time to waste and coupon in hand, I found myself with a good excuse to browse the endless racks at VV.

First, I noticed while looking through my fall/winter wardrobe I was missing a lot of dresses. To be honest, my summer wardrobe is also missing a lot of dresses. This year I’ve been getting rid of quite a lot of ‘things’. A lot of my ‘things’ just happen to be clothing. I wanted a red dress, and other fall-ish items to fill the gaps in my current wardrobe. I was surprised to find two dresses that fit that bill. Zara collection knit navy dress I love this Zara collection dress. It looks brand new, and has pockets! The tweed fringe and high neckline are right up my alley. It was $6.99 after discount. Zara collection navy tweed knit dressRed and blue flower thrifted dress from winnersThe second dress is a brand I recognize from Winners. It’s nothing special except for the fact that it’s red with a really pretty print and in new condition. Which was on my mental wish list. I really like the high, keyhole neckline on this one too. It was $5.94 after discount.

These next two items are my favourite finds. Black leather boots from Zilian. They are hardly worn! There is a zipper down the back which gives them a floppy look, or can be worn zipped up. The leather is buttery soft. They were $11.89 after discount.Zilian black leather bootsDrake general store cabin blanket navy I’m a sucker for anything from Drake General Store. I found this grey cabin blanket for $6.99 after discount. It’s currently selling on the site for $68. Grab one for yourself here: Drake General Store Cabin Blanket

Lastly is something I didn’t really need or was looking for. I picked up this Billabong laptop bag because it was $1.99 ($1.39 after discount) and I love the woven print and a great deal! Billabong laptop bag All in all, I spent $38.18 total and saved $14.25 with my 30% off donor card. Not exactly what I had abandoned in my online shopping cart but I’m happy with the start of my fall wardrobe!

Frenchy’s, Goodwill & Salvation Army Finds

Over the past few weeks I’ve stopped by a few thrift stores. First was Frenchy’s while visiting my grandmother in Weymouth. I found a Madewell silk blouse for $3.95 and a Kipling one strap, drawstring purse for $1.25! Small but mighty scores. Kipling oxygen drawstring purseYesterday I swung by the Salvation Army and picked up this GAP, indigo denim wrap dress for $11.99. I don’t usually thrift GAP clothing because honestly, I can’t resell it. But this dress was really nice. Soon my wardrobe will be 100% denim and I won’t be mad. Madewell pink silk blouse Although I’ve made many promises to myself that I wouldn’t thrift anymore mugs, I had to pick up this Starbucks one. I just had to. It was 99 cents and double walked so no burnt hands! How can you turn down that deal?Starbucks metal mug 2017 Lastly I ran into Goodwill real quick to take a peek. I found a VELVET military jacket for $8.99. Jackets are something else I don’t need more of (insert excuse here) I got it anyway. At least it has good resell value. VELVET military green jacket The last thing I got, again, do I really need this, was a Disney Parks authentic woven sun hat ($3.99). I’m a sucker for Disney Parks merch. I’ve got a few Disney trips planned in my future. I’m sure one will include this hat Disney parks authentic woven hatIt was pretty smooshed, all I had to do was wash it, stuff the hat to keep its form, spray it with starch spray (think hairspray for garments) and then lay flat to dry. Good as new!

Total: $31.93 tax incl.

Home Goods Thrift Haul

I initially went to the thrift store to find candles to fit a votive a friend gave me. I did find some, plus a bag of IKEA tea lights but that’s boring. Let’s talk about the other things I found while I was there! First off is this Friendship patterned refrigerator dish. I’ve pretty much stopped my vintage Pyrex addiction, but what’s one more for old times sake? Friendship pattern Pyrex Vintage Pyrex – $5.99

Next thing I didn’t need was this little Betsy Johnson makeup bag. I love the cream and black sorta polka dot pattern. I only picked it up because it was .69 cents Betsy Johnson black and cream makeup bagLastly I found this fabric swatch of barns of Nova Scotia by Kat Frick Miller. I love locally made things, and I’m always lusting over Kat’s tea towels at craft markets. I’m going to finish the edges and maybe use it? It might be too pretty to use. Originally her tea towels are $25. I got this one for $1.49. Also, I had a 10% coupon, so my total thrift cost was around $11.00. Locally made items plus vintage Pyrex at thrifty prices are my favourite things!

Thrift Therapy

I needed some retail therapy the other day, so I made my way to my friendly neighbourhood thrift store. First, I found this midi Urban Outfitters dress (ecote $7.00). I love the length (something rare for a UO dress to have) and the cute cross-cross detail on the sides which you probably can’t see. Also, I found another Chemex! A little baby mini three cupper for $2.00. Can’t say no to these and have decided to start a collection.I love these Club Monaco wrap brackets. This turquoise one is a nice addition to my collection!  (Another *cheap* collection in the making $1.00) Thrifting really brightens my day when I’m feeling down. It’s like going on a modern day treasure hunt for the things you love. Even better when you find a score!  After this thrifty therapy session I was feeling recharged (and ready to do some laundry).

Value Village Thrift Haul

Today I had planned to go on a hike, but Mother Nature changed the plans a bit. Instead, we spent a rainy afternoon searching through racks at Value Village’s 50% off sale. First, I picked up this Cheap Monday wool sweater dress ($4.50). The style is called “Oregon” and I love it. Next, and not very exciting, is this black Zara knit cardigan ($5.50). Always need a black cardigan.  I also found this super soft (and tagless) scarf vest thing ($4.50). I think it will be easy to dress up.Next up, this leather purse! I do not need more purses, but this The Sak purse was buttery soft and I really liked the details. Plus it was only $5.00. So why even bother resisting. Next, and I think my favourite, are these pink woven espadrilles from J Crew. They only cost me a cool $2.00. Lastly, I picked up a few non-sale items. Jewellery for the holiday season. And of course, a plant pot for $3.00 because I always need a good plant pot.Total damage: $33.83

Quick Value Village Thrift Trip

I really wanted a large wicker plant pot. I’ve visited IKEA a lot lately since it opened, and every time I eye ball the wicker pots and every time I walk away empty handed. It’s something I don’t really need, so I don’t feel like I can spend $30 on it. $2.99 is right around what I want to spend.  This is probably a waste basket but repurposing is one of my favourite things!I also bought this cute little ‘makers of wax goods‘ candle. I’ve been burning a lot of candles lately too, so for $1, why not. Their candles are nice.

Saturday Thrift Shopping Adventures

I went thrifting to kill some time this weekend and try to boost my fall/winter wardrobe. I only found one item worth bringing home, but I love it. This Henri Bendel Classics 100% merino wool 3 quarter length cropped sweater. $3.99What I left behind and regret is this mid-century modern looking record cabinet. I’m going to try and go back for it Monday.. but I totall regret not buying it right away. We all make mistakes. Cross your fingers for me
