Come thrifting with me: Tiktok version

This past weekend I headed out to some Frenchy’s locations (one I’ve never been to before) and while hunting for gold I decided to film a few things and put together a TikTok thrift vlog. Here’s part one and part two. Let me know what you think! I love making these, I also have a couple other thrift videos up, so if you’re on TikTok let’s be friends! I didn’t make a video of what I actually took home, but I’ll show you, because I know you’re interested.

The first is this Madewell dress. Yea it looks like a sack, but I love it. It’s got high slits on both sides and is made out of material that feels good to the touch. It’s probably my favourite find of the day.

Then I picked up this Theory dress strictly for resale. I’m heading to my favourite consignment shop soon to drop off some other things I don’t wear anymore, so figured I’d try to consign this dress while I’m at it.

Then my partner found a couple warner bros. Shirts from the 90s. The red one’s mine, green Taz is his. Yes these are purely ugly nostalgic wearable items for around the house. I’ve completely given in to comfortable house wear

Since we’re looking at questionable items, next is this Oh Henry sweater my partner also found. When I said the Madewell dress was my favourite, I lied. It’s this sweater.

Normally I find a lot of nice home goods pieces I like, but this weekend I only bought these crystal cocktail glasses. Already put to good use!

Other notables are this Ted Baker sweater. I can’t decided if I want to keep or sell?

And this aritzia babaton mockneck. Keep or not to keep. That is the question.

Lastly I found this comfy Arie lounge shirt. It’s nothing special and I was going to leave it, but it’s so soft and I gotta be honest, this is what I “wear to work” now. I have no business buying nice clothing. I’m a corporate PJ woman.

So what do you think? Was there anything in the TikTok videos you saw that I should have gotten? Should I consign the nice pieces? I’ve been really good at not picking up everything I see at Frenchy’s. Trying to be intensional and realistic but it can be tough!

Come thrift with me!

My try on haul. I think I ended up taking home half of these things. the first yellow check tank is so cute but looked so terrible on me! I brought home the Anthro denim top, the blue free people top, the pink cardigan with zigzag designs, the white LLbean fleece at the end and the MinkPink dress
Then I took a second video to get a peep at the brands
A view of the shoes at frenchys from my first stop. It was a flop for me this time. Didn’t find any shoes or boots.
A little view of the clothing layout at frenchys. Anyone remember when it was all in the bins? I can’t believe I was upset when they started hanging the clothing. I could never go back to bin digging!
This curated basket of greys was cute, but I didn’t end up getting anything at this stop
A messy backseat shot of my thrift haul
This Smart Set tag gives me the nostalgia.
I didn’t get any of these, but I loved them!

The Best Thrift Find of 2021

My best thrift find of the year goes to this vintage Burberry blazer. It didn’t fit me, nor had I anywhere to wear it, but does that matter when it comes to designer label vintage? I don’t think so. Either way, I paid $5.50 for it and flipped it for $150.

Giving Thanks for Thrift Scores

It’s Thanksgiving weekend up here in old Canada, and this year I’m thankful for lots of things, but who isn’t? Today specifically, I’m giving thanks for the glorious thrift finds I scored on this gut-busting, turkey-coma of a weekend. All of these things I picked up at Frenchy’s on my way to the family homestead. Let’s start with jackets. I finally found a camel coat! It shows no signs of wear, so right away I was pumped. I’ve stopped buying things that look worn because, what’s the point? atmosphere beige camel coat (Atmosphere jacket: $7.00)

Next, I found this Lucky Brand denim faux fur(?) lined jacket. I am crazy over this thing. I had one in high school that wasn’t as nice, not to a mention the tag reads “too tough to die”. How can you not love clothing  with this much attitude? I am all set for my 70’s winter look. lucky brand dungaree denium faux fur lined jacket   lucky brand dungaree denium faux fur lined jacket   (Lucky Brand denim: $7.00)

Anyone who knows me, or at least reads this blog, knows I love the brand Free People. Granted, they often make hideous clothing, at least when a model isn’t wearing it. Sometimes I gotta pass it up, or I buy it and look horrible, but this thrift trip I found a couple things that aren’t that bad! free people light grey sweater This sweater I actually bought in a different colour scheme from a boutique downtown last year. I think I like the grey/red combo better. free people grey and red print sweater  (Free People sweaters: $4.50 each)

(Mango Collection wool sweater: $4.50)h&m tribal print dress (H&M Dress: $5.50)  Uniqlo pant black and white flower   (Uniqlo pant: $2.75 Old Navy tank NWT: $2.75)brown Carhartt winter hat  (Carhartt toque: $1.00)

rabit fur ear flap winter hatAlthough these ear flap hats are really cute, they look horrible on me. I wasn’t going to pick this up, but it’s real fur, and I figure it would be good for winter camping, or any other outdoor activities I get up to this coming cold season. For $2.50 I think I will be happy I bought it. Burberry eye glasses case  Burberry eye glasses caseLastly, something else I don’t need. A Burberry glasses case. Right now I’m housing my precious Ray Bans in there since the case for them is soft. It’s only a matter of time before I throw them in my work tote and they get smashed. Hopefully, this hard case will avoid the whole made up situation.

 (Burberry case: .75).

That’s it, that’s my long weekend thrift trip. I was looking for simple, solid colour fall/winter pieces, but of course I’m not going to pass up cute things along the way. All in all, I’d say I did alright with this haul!

Huge Spring Wardrobe Thrift Haul

So, I took a vacation. I took two days off and went to my grandmothers for her birthday. It’s so nice to take a couple days off once in a while and be around family. After working 12+ hours a day and not interacting with anyone, it was a difficult adjustment, but I really needed it. Maybe constantly working isn’t what life is all about? Duh. It’s not. It’s about thrifting. Anyways, the point is, my grandmother lives in the middle of Frenchy heaven. I hit up three while I was there, but there were so many untapped locations. I was mostly looking for a spring wardrobe, and ended up with a mix of everything. Here’s what I picked up at the Digby and ColdBrook locations on the way to grandmothers house.

Madewell dress                                            French Connection: new with tags!                                                         Born leather oxfords | $4.50                                            Tommy Hilfiger dress | $5.40                                                Victoria Secret shorts | $2.50

                                                  Victoria Secret dress | $5.40

Later that day I hit up St. Bernard Frenchys. Not pictured are the Hunter boot socks I bought for my mom. I’m not really into the whole Hunter boot craze, but for $1.95 I knew my mom would like them.

I’m crazy over this Free People slip. She charged me $4.25 because she called it a nightie. Free People anything for $4.25 is okay in my books.

This is one of my favourite finds. A Wallace by Madwell coat. From the holiday 2010 collection|$4.50

Kate Spade | $1.00 Because why not.

The next day I went to Yarmouth and hit the mother load. My best thrift find to date. Please take a moment and congratulate me on this epic find. I could have gone home right then, I was done. How can you beat finding a Marc Jacobs purse? A Marc by Marc Jacobs purse! What! Here is the raw footage of it in my bin.

Marc by Marc Jacobs | $4.50  I even found the dust bag in another bin. This is the best thing I’ve ever thrifted. What’s yours?

I could have stopped, like I mentioned, but I kept going. I ain’t no fool.

                                                              Philosophy top | $3.10                                                 Tommy Hilfiger | $3.10IMG_4650                                                                Zara Trafaluc | $4.50

Another amazing find, this Wildfox sweater| $4.50. As seen here on Dollskill for $199 USD                                                             Gap softwool | $4.50                                                    Express dress | $5.40                                                                     Gap | $5.40                                                               Tommy Hilfiger | $5.40                                                 BCBG Generation | $5.40    Saturday Sunday dress, sold at Anthropologie. New with tags | $5.40                                                            Lauren Conrad | $3.10                                             Love these JCrew sleep shorts | $1.90                                                       Coach wallet | $2.00

I was pumped to find this Mindy Kaling book. Since the latest season was just released on Netflix I’ve been bingeing on past seasons. I knew if I waited, I’d find this book second hand. I’m almost finished if you want to borrow it.  Lastly, I stopped at a tiny Frenchys and picked up this H&M tote and JCrew hoodie.

                                                                 Hoodie and tote | $5.50
